Following and Unfollowing

Following accounts is a simple way to curate your Arena feed and stay up to date on the leagues, topics, and users you’re interested in. There are technical restrictions on how many Arena user accounts you may follow to avoid spam and manipulation of follow connections, as well as to maintain site reliability. These restrictions are determined by the rate at which you follow new accounts as well as the number of followers you have. Furthermore, because follow relationships on Arena aren’t always reciprocated, we’ve implemented a few guidelines for follow behavior to encourage honest interactions.

What are the Technical Follow Limits?

We don’t limit the account of accounts you can follow in total, however there are certain restrictions on how quickly you may do so. Every Arena account can follow up to 400 people each day. Arena verified accounts can follow up to 1,000 users each day. Aside from the daily limitations, there are follow ratios that apply if you follow a certain amount of accounts: Each Arena account can follow up to 5,000 people. Once you've reached that threshold, you may need to wait until your account gets more followers before following other accounts. This figure is unique to each account and is determined automatically based on your unique follower-to-following ratio.

What if 'you are unable to follow more people at this time?'

You may encounter a message that states, 'You are unable to follow more people at this time.' You'll encounter this message for one of the following reasons: You've reached the daily follow limit. You can follow more accounts after a day has passed. You've followed too many accounts too quickly. Try again in an hour or so. You've hit a follow ratio limit. You can try again once your account has more followers, or you can unfollow a few accounts to follow new ones. Your account is locked or limited. We may lock an account if appears to be compromised or if it is in violation of the Arena Rules or Terms of Service, including due to aggressive follow behavior.
